Don't fall into a haunted trap this Halloween!
During the chaotic Halloween season, kids can easily get lost, injured, or even fall ill.
While some of these may seem like no-brainers to you, common sense is not so common during crazy, highly emotional events. Let's review some safety hazards so we can all have fun 😊
This guide will help you and your kids stay safe and conscious of other families!
Whether it's trick-or-treating fun or a Halloween party, choose your costume wisely.
ITCHY COSTUMES!A lot of kids who find their costumes itchy will end up getting rashes, physical discomfort which leads to emotional discomfort, or may even attempt to remove the itchy article of clothing and catch a cold! Make sure to find costumes that are soft and safe for children with sensitive skin.
Oversized costumes or fit too loosely may cause a hazard not only to your child but to others as well.
TOO LOOSE!If their shoes are uncomfortable, this could cause blisters, ankle sprains, or even tripping that could injure themselves or someone in the proximity!
DARK COLORS:Similarly, darker colors could make them blend into the night, which may cause unnecessary injuries. People can't see where they're going in the dark!
Wear reflective or lighter color fabric! This will be beneficial during trick-or-treating: the light will reflect off the costume and they will pose less of a danger to cars.
Better yet, get a costume with LED lightsin them already! 😉 Below, you'll find a reflective firefighter costume along with some glowing accessories. Go ahead and explore your options 😍
Watch out for your eyes! 👀
Bright flashing lights 💡 can cause light sensitivity, and rapid flashing lights can cause epilepsy.
As for contact lenses...
According to the FDA, decorative contact lenses can seriously damage your cornea, give you allergic reactions, eye infections, and may even result in blindness. We do not recommend sharing lenses with friends or lending them to others. Moreover, decorative lenses that are non-prescribed are totally illegal!
